Cynthia Clovis

Cynthia Hurd-Clovis moved to Trinidad and Tobago from her native Canada in 1977 with her then husband, Allan to follow their dream of creating a small resort that would nurture body, mind and spirit. Over the next five years, her two daughters were born and Kariwak Village became a reality.
It was a steep learning curve for the whole family with no previous experience in the hospitality industry but Cynthia’s innate affinity for details and systems combined with her natural optimism and nurturing spirit breathed life and love into the place.
While she continues to manage all aspects of operation in the hotel and restaurant, it is the kitchen that has become her particular passion and she is delighted to announce the long overdue and much anticipated release of her first cookbook, Cooking Kariwak Style - Tastes of Tobago, just in time for Christmas 2012.
